KAMPALA. The climax of the first edition of the Busoga Masaza Cup will only act as a first step in promoting and developing sport in the Kingdom and beyond.
Busoga sports minister Amin Bbosa not only wants the competition to become an annual showpiece but also spread its wings to other kingdoms.

“Our plan is to have an inter-kingdom game,” Bbosa said. “The response from Buganda has been positive and what is left is agreeing on a format.

“It can be a game between our champions and the Buganda champions for the start before we include the rest or we can have a Busoga Select Side against the others,” he explained.
Against this backdrop, Buganda sports minister Henry Ssekabembe, with a 12-year experience of holding the Masaza Cup, will attend tomorrow’s final at Bugembe Stadium, Jinja.
Bunyoro also hold their own inter-county competition annually but have “not yet joined the discussion” for an inter-kingdom contest according to Bbosa.

Bunha and Bukhooli will contest for the honour or being inaugural winners which comes with a trophy from City Tyres while all 14 participating counties will get equipment.
Though cash rewards are being mooted in future, the chief guest, the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Nadiope Kadhumbula IV, will recognize the top scorer and Most Valuable Player (MVP).
In case of a stalemate, the final, which the Fufa president Moses Magogo is expected to attend, will dive into a penalty shootout immediately.
