Miya, Wadada and Oloya stand out
Most never rated Miya, claiming he was only Micho Sredojevic’s blue eyed-boy but with hardly any substance to his game.
It was a team effort as Uganda ended a 39-year absence from the Nations Cup finals on Sunday, but three men clearly stood out. Below we rate them.
PLAYER RATINGS (out of 10)
Dennis Onyango (6/10). Onyango shook off a niggling injury to put it yet another impressive performance. Well, he was not as busy, only being called upon to tip over Bakar Djamel effort five minutes to half time.
Joseph Ochaya (7/10). Showed some nerves defensively but later grew into the game, whipping in some quality balls from the left flank. One of those balls was glanced towards goal by Massa.
Murushid Jjuuko (6/10). He had a neatly quiet game, rarely caught out of position. Together with Wadada, Ochaya and Isinde, they gave Onyango some decent cover.
Nicholas Wadada (8/10). A very decent job for the Nations Cup qualifying debutant! He coordinated so well with Oloya on the right. One of his crosses in the second half should have seen Okwi score.
Isaac Isinde (6/10). Apart from when he miscued a header to concede a corner in the second half, the St George man did just fine in front of Onyango. He also orchestrated some moves upfront.
Khalid Aucho (7/10). Assured in front of the back four, foiling attacks and linking up well with Tonny Mawejje, Oloya, Luwagga and Miya. A fine job.
Kizito Luwagga (5.5/10). He was central to Cranes attacking moves in the first half but grew tired and was replaced by Okwi on 54 minutes.
Tony Mawejje (6/10). Not the usual Mawejje sending long range shots but did just fine in a midfield of the passing Comoros. Played just well enough to earn his reward of qualifying for the Nations Cup.
Moses Oloya (8/10). The link man between the back and front, Oloya coordinated well with midfield while linking up just as fine with Luwagga and Miya. He also enjoyed fine of promising runs in midfield.
Farouk Miya (9/10).What a fine youngster we have on our hands! The Standard Liege forward scored the most important goal ever at Namboole, his 14th for Cranes. Simply outstanding.
Geoffrey Massa (5/10). The Cranes captain was kept relatively quiet by his Comoros opposite Abdou Nadsim. But he did evade him to head Ochaya’s cross into the area, only to be tipped over by Ahamada.

Godfrey Walusimbi (for Oloya) and Hassan Wasswa (for Massa) came on too late to be graded.

Coach Micho Sredojevic 8/10: He did just enough to get the needed result, but the hard work was definitely guiding Uganda to two away victories in Comoros and Botswana.
