Coach Micho threatens to resign

Micho Sredojevic

What you need to know:

  • This is not the first time Micho is up in arms with Fufa. There was a sustained public spat between him and Fufa president Moses Magogo, again over unpaid dues, after Uganda qualified for this year's Africa Cup of Nations.
  • Micho took over the role of coaching Cranes in May 2013 from Scottish Bobby Williamson.

Micho Sredojevic could tender in his resignation as Uganda Cranes coach in the next 48 hours.
The development comes barely hours after the Serbian's team skinned South Sudan 5-1 in the 2018 Chan qualifiers at the Star Times Stadium Lugogo on Saturday in Kampala.
After praising four-goal hero Paul Mucureezi and his team for executing his instructions to the letter, Micho - who wore a subdued face throughout - let go of his frustrations.

"This country has treated me in some of the most unfair ways," said the 47-year-old.
"In the next 48 hours or less, I will call a press conference to thank everyone and explain everything. After that, I will not say anything more on the matter."
Daily Monitor understands that the Serb's source of frustrations stems from reported arrears from Fufa, although the federation is on record saying they have cleared Micho's salary and ad-ons.
News mid this week filtered through that Micho was on his way out after a Libyan club offered him significant amounts of money.

In attempting to clear the air, the Serb instead left everyone guessing, saying "after the game on Saturday, only God knows."

Many had expected Micho to quit after the Afcon finals in Gabon but that never materialised.

Daily Monitor will avail more details as they come in.
