Court refuses to grant injunction on Fufa Assembly

KAMPALA.

The Fufa Annual General Assembly (AGM) will go ahead as planned next Saturday at the Kabalega Resort Hotel in Masindi.

This was confirmed by High Court judge Henrietta Wolayo yesterday as she refused to grant an interim injunction to a group of three fans thereby dismissing their application.

Edwin Bazanye, Paul Mugamba and Solomon Bbiira, through Nsamba and Company Advocates, had asked court to stop the AGM as Fufa conducted their election irregularly and unlawfully.

“The ordinary assembly can still go ahead but the main suit will be heard at a later date,” Wolayot said. Hearing of the main suit was set for September 29.
By press time, Denis Lukambi, a Fufa lawyer was in Lira for hearing of a similar case ahead of the federation’s 93rd assembly.

The defendants are the Attorney General, National Council of Sports, Fufa chief executive officer Edgar Watson, president Moses Magogo, Fufa EC boss Samuel Bakiika and his deputy Yusuf Awuye.

The upcoming elective assembly is expected to endorse incumbent Magogo for another term.

Magogo is currently unopposed following the Fufa Electoral Committee’s disqualification of Mujib Kasule (bottom) as he didn’t meet the requirements for that post. Fufa are bullish. “The assembly will be held on 5th August, 2017 starting at 9 am. The arrangements to have a successful assembly are underway,” read a statement on Fufa website yesterday.
