KAMPALA.

Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic has consistently stated this Cecafa Challenge tournament is one he will use to prepare his team for the Chan Championship in January.

But after falling to Tanzania at the quarterfinal stage the last time the competition was held in 2013, failure at the same stage today against Malawi will more than leave him in a spot of bother.

The Cranes clash with the Malawi Flames this evening in the 2015 edition in Ethiopia with a semifinal position at stake.
Going by past records, the Cranes come into the game as favourites having won 13 times, lost eight and drawn five. The Cranes have, however, failed to win the last three games against the Flames drawing twice including the sides’ last Cecafa meeting, 1-all in 2010 as well losing 1-0 in a friendly game played in Blantyre in July.

The Cranes qualified as Group B winners with six points following Frank Kalanda’s sole strike against Burundi on Saturday while Malawi finished second with six points after losing 2-0 to South Sudan in Group C. Micho is expected to make changes from the Burundi game with Kalanda, who now has two goals to his name, starting alongside Caesar Okhuti while James Alitho should return in goal.
