Cranes to face Malawi, Seychelles ahead of Equatorial Guinea clash

A 2-2 draw after two legs with Madagascar saw The Cranes progress on away goals and will face Equatorial Guinea for a place in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations group stage qualifiers.

KAMPALA- Home based players will have more time to impress coach Micho Sredojevic ahead of the Nations Cup pre-qualification game against Equatorial Guinea after Fufa lined up another warm up game against Seychelles on July 11.

The federation had earlier scheduled another game against Malawi on July 14, five days before the Nations Cup qualifier on July 19 at Namboole .

The island nation is expected to camp in Uganda this week as it prepares for its nation’s cup qualifier game against Sierra Leone also on the July 19. Micho who declined to comment on the development had told the Daily Monitor in a separate interview on Tuesday that he was looking at improving the physical levels of the team.

“I want to put the players here at a competitive level similar to those whose leagues are active or who have started pre-season training,” he said.

Striker Emmanuel Okwi who missed the game on Sunday because of personal commitments joined up with the squad yesterday for a training game against Makerere University Business School(MUBS).
Younger sibling Francis Olaki is meanwhile not expected to join up with the squad till next week with the striker still sidelined with a muscle strain.
