Cup final: Vipers coach Da Costa takes swipe at KCCA

Vipers will on Saturday seek a maiden league and cup double when they clash with KCCA at the Emokori Grounds in Bukedea for the 2018 Stanbic Uganda Cup crown.
The Venoms clinched their place in the final with a narrow 1-0 aggregate win over rivals SC Villa at the St. Mary’s Stadium on Tuesday.
Vipers coach Miguel Da Costa used the opportunity in his post-match press conference to throw the first vibes ahead of what should be an explosive showdown.
“We played with them two matches but I think a final is different,” Da Costa responded when asked about his side’s approach for the Saturday game.
“Probably we are going to make some changes to give us the best possible team to win the match
“There is nothing special. You are asking me why. You think I’m afraid of KCCA? You think I’m going to treat KCCA in a different way because it’s KCCA? You know that’s it’s a good thing that we are in this club, we are not a tax club. Our club is not managed from your money, even my money. This club is a private club an independent club. So you think I’m afraid of them,” Da Costa who also hinted on leaving the club at the end of the season noted. The last meeting between the two sides produced one of the games of the season with Vipers winning 3-2.
KCCA manager Mike Mutebi, however, used the game to call for protection off young midfielder Allan Okello who was on the receiving end of various challenges.
“I had to withdraw him since Taddeo (Lwanga) was all over him. He kicked him, badly tackled him and it wasn’t wise to keep him on. He is a player we can’t sacrifice to win a title because we need him in the future. He is the only genuine number 10 that this country has but he is not accorded any protection from the referees.”
