Kampala.

Either Express or Vipers will have lost hope of winning the Uganda Premier League title this season when the final whistle is blown this evening at Buikwe stadium.

Second-placed Express, operating on a shoe string budget, must first have to fight off the growing perception in the football fraternity that their Shs10m and jerseys donation from Vipers owner Lawrence Mulindwa recently, was meant to ‘corrupt their minds’.

After Vipers, Express take on KCCA next week in one of the anticipated title-shaping ties at Wankulukuku.

“We have a team that can help us overcome Vipers, Villa and KCCA in our remaining games and bring the title home. We don’t care what people say,” Express coach Wasswa Bbosa said. The Red Eagles overcame Bright Stars 2-1 on Saturday at Wankulukuku to go four points within leaders KCCA with a game in hand.

The six-time league champions will be looking to nine-goal hero Tony Odur, Ibrahim Kayiwa, Isma Kazibwe, Vincent Kayizzi, Sam Kintu, Emma Kalyowa, Simon Sserunkuuma, and Bob Kasozi to stun the defending champions Vipers at their at home.

After the 0-0 draw with leaders KCCA on Friday, Vipers coach George Nsimbe has vowed to unleash an attacking side against Express.

“We are going to attack Express throughout the game and show them that we need the title most. We have players coming back in our team which will give us the cutting edge,” Nsimbe told Daily Monitor.

Third-placed Vipers will be without Musa Malunda, Dan Birikwalira and Deus Bukenya but forwards Allan Kyambadde and John Ssemazzi return to face their former side.

Nsimbe’s side will be seeking to revenge the 2-0 defeat to Express in the first round at Wankulukuku and bridge the gap on KCCA to three points. At Nakivubo, Ibrahim Kirya’s Villa side that beat Bul 2-0 at Kakindu on Saturday, turn their guns on relegation strugglers The Saints.
