Erhima Zeregaw scored a hat trick as Ethiopia beat Uganda 4-1 in the third place play off of the Cecafa Women Championship on Tuesday in Njeru.

Crested Cranes coach Majidah Nantanda made four changes, to the side that lost 4-1 to Tanzania in the semifinals on Sunday, to have a fresher and fitter squad.

Christine Nambirige, Tracy Akiror, Ritah Nabossa and goalkeeper Matovu Matovu came in for Laki Otandeka, Naume Nagadya, Joan Nakirya and Ruth Aturo respectively.

The plan seemed to pay off as Hasifah Nassuna gave Uganda the lead just after four minutes, however, Zeregaw equalized 12 minutes later.

An injury to Akiror in the 20th minute started Uganda’s woes as Ethiopia grew into the game and dominated proceedings in the blistering heat.

Zheregaw added two in the 44th and 70th minute before striker Losa Abera was rewarded for her tireless link up play and industry with Ethiopia’s fourth goal.
