KAMPALA- From the fans’attendance at the launch of the Express-Equity Bank season ticket and squad launch, it appeared as if there was still some skepticism about Kiryowa Kiwanuka’s new leadership.

While few attended, Kiwanuka used the function that also involved a meeting with the fans to announce even greater plans for the new season.
“We are going to unveil more partners like Uganda Breweries,” Kiryowa said to thunderous applause from the club faithful.”

There were also the first signs of friction between Kiwanuka who has vowed to clamp down on hooliganism and the fans when a small section of the fans heckled CEO Hamza Jjunju when his name was announced.

“I haven’t asked for an opinion about who to appoint as CEO but I’m just telling you about him, “ he shot back.

Jjunju has had an on and off relationship with the fans and is into his second stint as club CEO. There was also a hint dropped about another partner whose deal is being held back but is thought to be a rival to current league title rights holder Startimes.

Kiryowa also warned fans against about meddling in the technical affairs of the team a vice previously prominent.

“I won’t get involved in the technical matters because I don’t know them. You should similarly desist from it,. There is a technical committee in charge of that “ he said of the committee that includes prominent names Robert Aloro and Mark Ssali.

The club also unveiled their season squad with defender Julius Ntambi named captain.
