What you need to know:

Soccer. With lead scorer Ssentongo out, the Ugandan Caf Confederations Cup representatives are now almost certain to face Orlando Pirates without four other players in ill Agaba, Lwasa, Othieno and Kalanda

KAMPALA.

URA’s chances of overturning a 2-1 deficit against Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Orlando Pirates have been dealt a huge blow after confirmation of Robert Ssentongo’s two-match suspension brought the number of possible absentees to five.

The two meet at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in the second leg of the Caf Confederations Cup on Saturday with URA needing a 1-0 victory to progress to the second round.
URA’s lead scorer on the continent with three of their five goals, Ssentongo, is again out of Saturday’s encounter having missed the first leg through suspension. It had been thought that just like Jonathan Mugabi served just one match out following his straight red card in the preliminary tie at Namboole, Ssentongo – who was sent off against Elgeco Plus in Madagascar - would face the same.

Caf communicated to URA prior the SA leg that the striker would miss the two matches. On return, the tax collectors - through Fufa - requested to know how Mugabi’s red card could carry a one-match suspension and Ssentongo’s two. “Fufa communicated to Caf and got back to us saying that the decision on Ssentongo was arrived at after a Caf disciplinary sitting,” URA administrator Edward Kulubya said.
