KAMPALA. KCCA play the second of their three-game sequence in seven days today against Big League side Simba.

The reigning league and cup champions defeated rivals SC Villa 1-0 on Thursday and play their return leg against Madagascar’s CNaPS at Lugogo on Wednesday. But while many Ugandan clubs have previously frowned at such a frantic fixture list, Mutebi thinks its an opportunity for players to raise their competitiveness to match those on the continent and in Europe.

“Our players are supposed to play at least 60 matches in a season . If we want to do what the best are doing we must cut our losses and do the right thing,” Mutebi stated ahead of the game.

“Our training has been honed that way. We must prepare our players to play three games in about seven to 10 days. That’s what top class footballers are subjected to,” he added. His team faces a tricky away tie against a Simba side playing in the Big League and not only boasts of experience but is coached by one of several players to have been placed under Mutebi’s tutelage.
