KAMPALA. Bernard Muwanga and Gift Ali, two of KCCA’s new signings, have got the nod to start and prove their worth in tomorrow’s Caf Champions League encounter with Esperance in Tunisia.
Muwanga, who captained rivals SC Villa last season, is believed to have cost KCCA about Shs27m while Ali is said to have moved from Proline for an estimated Shs15m.

Although that combined total is Shs8m short of what our sources believe KCCA paid to Villa to buyout Nicholas Kasozi’s contract, it is the former two that Mutebi expects to hit the ground running.
“Those two perfectly fill the gaps we have now in defence and midfield so that is why we acted fast to get licences for them,” Mutebi explained at the club’s press conference on Friday – a day before they moved to Tunisia.

“Ali is one of the best midfielders in the country. Those of us who have followed him since he was 15, expected much from him and right now he should be in the national team set up but maybe there were issues in his growth path. Now it’s time for him to realise his potential.
“Muwanga, on the other hand, does not add much technically but he is good and experienced. He offers steady progress and everyone is aware he has been playing with Awany at national team level.”

“We expect a torrid time in Tunisia as six of their players but our opponents fear us too. They have the money so they constantly scout our players and training sessions,” Mutebi said, justifying why he will stick to playing expansive football away from home.
But in that statement, he had also cunningly let out how KCCA have been able to finance this transfer window’s deals.
