Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA)’s quest for a second Cecafa Kagame Club Championship will start against familiar opposition when they play Gor Mahia in their opening Group B game of the 14 team tournament.
The two teams meet on August 8 with the possibility of the Kenyan side having up to four Ugandan players in a side also coached by former Cranes tactician Bobby Williamson.
Godfrey Walusimbi, Israel Emuge, Godfrey Kizito and Arthur Semmazzi could all feature for K’Ogalo against a KCCA side that last won the regional title in 1978.
George Nsimbe’s side will then proceed against Djibouti’s Telecom and Burundi’s Flambeau de l’est before wrapping up what looks like a tricky group against Rwandese champions APR on August 17.
The tournament has Kenayn clubs as the most successful with Ugandan clubs winning it five time the last of which came in 2006 when Police beat Tanzania’s Moro united 2-1.
Burundi’s Vital’O are the defending champions having beaten APR to the Shs75m ($30,000 ) staked for the winners.
