KU in Must win game

KAMPALA- Forget the football. What started as a 14-match endurance race has come down to a 90-minute trial of hearts and strong minds.
Nerves, and who can conquer them, will decide whether Kampala University (KU) or Nkumba snap up the University Football League title today.
KU, who have led the table since the start of the second round, visit Mbarara University of Science and Technology (Must) needing to claim all three points if they are to deny close rivals Nkumba the title.
KU captain, Allan Anguyo, has branded the clash against Must as a must-win. Nkumba are only one point behind KU whose unbeaten run they broke last week at Villa Park. Nkumba, who are now the only unbeaten team in the league, will also be hosting Makerere University today. Both games kick off at 2pm.
Anguyo is confident his team can cling to the top of the table inspite of their recent loss to Nkumba.
“To be sure, there is no room for mistakes against Must. We need to win if we are to claim the championship,” Anguyo said. “A draw will be a bad result for us because it would have robbed us of all our efforts of the entire season.” Anguyo’s views were echoed by his coach, Vincent Tumusiime, who said his team deserve the title.
“The position we’re in is tough, but the mood in the camp is positive. We have enjoyed the entire season and the only reward we expect from our tireless efforts is the title,” said Tumusiime.
KU defeated Must 1-0 in their first round encounter. Must, however, played that game without league top scorer, Siraje Musindo.
Must had a bad start to the season but have improved along the way, recording one victory and two draws at home.
Their improved confidence and home support makes Must a formidable force capable of KU’s hearts. “Kampala University should come prepared to lose. We are playing from home so we are going to go all out to win and deny them a win,” Must coach, Ali Toboley said.
