Kampala. Kawempe Muslim SS defeated She Corporate 4-2 on penalties in the finals of the Fufa Women Elite League to defend their title on Sunday at Nakivubo.
The emotion sapping goalless draw, that saved face with flashes of brilliances from either side, had been played to plan for She Corporate boss John Ongodia, who nullified the threat of Kawempe forwards Sandra Nabweteme and Hasfa Nassuna - with 42 league goals between them.
But it ended in disappointment as Kawempe keeper Ruth Aturo saved Stella Kaliba’s penalty while Cissy Nantongo fluffed hers over the bar during the shoot out.

She Corporate’s only scorers
Only Halima Kembabazi and Zaina Mukaayla scored for She Corporate.
Kawempe’s Nabweteme and Nassuna led by example converting from the spot while teammates Joan Nakirya and Yudaya Nakayenzi followed suit just after Fauza Nambatya’s effort was saved by goalkeeper of the season Fatumah Matovu, who conceded only one goal in 14 games.
“It has been a hard season because many teams have stepped up their performances against us as we saw today. But penalties are a lottery and can go either way,” Most Valuable Player Hasfa Nassuna said before commending Aturo for restoring the team’s belief with her heroics.
