Kampala. Ibrahim Kirya has steadied the SC Villa ship since being elevated to the role of head coach at the start of October. He is also unbeaten in nine competitive games since taking charge, winning five league games, four of them accumulated in the league.
In the nine games, Villa have conceded only twice, both goals leaked in the 3-2 league win over rivals Express in December.
It is that tightness at the back that Kirya is counting on as Villa depart today ahead of Saturday’s away first leg Caf Confederations Cup game against Sudan side Al Khartoum.
“You can say it is our strong point at the moment and I am optimistic the players can replicate that form on Saturday,” Kirya said yesterday. He will, however, have to do without first choice left-back Yeseri Waibi, who has failed to secure his passport in time as well as striker Fahad Toko and Dennis Kamanzi .
Kirya though remains confident he will get a result against a team that leads the Sudanese league after five games. Ugandan Michael Birungi will feature for the Sudanese.
