Leicester's Vardy given one-game ban

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy will miss his side's potential title decider at Manchester United on Sunday after accepting a misconduct charge, England's Football Association announced on Tuesday.

Vardy, who has also been fined £10,000 ($14,540, 12,890 euros), was charged after reacting angrily to being sent off following a second yellow card for diving in Leicester's recent 2-2 draw with West Ham United.

He missed last Sunday's 4-0 win over Swansea City through suspension and will also have to sit out this weekend's trip to Old Trafford, where Leicester can claim their first league title if they win.

"Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Jamie Vardy has been given a one-match suspension with immediate effect, fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct," the FA said in a statement.

"The Leicester City forward had accepted an FA charge of improper conduct following his second-half dismissal against West Ham United on Sunday 17 April 2016."

England international Vardy, 29, is Leicester's top scorer this season with 22 league goals.

But Leonardo Ulloa proved himself an able deputy by scoring twice in the win over Swansea and is expected to keep his place against United.

Leicester have also been fined £20,000 after accepting an FA charge of failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion over their angry reaction to a West Ham penalty award in the same game.

Leicester are seven points clear of second-place Tottenham Hotspur, whose 1-1 draw at home to West Bromwich Albion on Monday left Claudio Ranieri's side needing just three points to secure the title.

After visiting United on Sunday, Leicester host Everton in their final home game before travelling to outgoing champions Chelsea on the season's last day.
