Manchester United produced some magic while eliminating Greece outfit Olympiakos to reach the Uefa Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday. Down 2-0 from the first leg, the English Premiership champions tore Olympiakos apart at Old Trafford with Dutch striker Robin van Persie getting all the goals in the 3-0 victory.

Struggling in the Premiership, Manchester United and their beleaguered manager David Moyes needed that victory. It was a huge relief for the side that needs a miracle to finish among the top four.

Their chance for Champions League football next season is winning this year’s final. And Moyes pointed out such a feat is possible after the Wednesday display. But after landing defending champions Bayern Munich as their quarterfinal opponents on Friday afternoon, it is unlikely Moyes still has that belief.

Bayern eliminated Arsenal in the round of 16 and are huge favourites to oust Man U. The first leg will be played at Old Trafford. Chelsea, England’s other representatives, have been paired with French side PSG.
The semi finals will not feature more than two Spanish sides after Barcelona were handed a date with Atletico Madrid. Rea Madrid meet Germany’s Borussia Dortmund. First leg games will be played April 1-2 with the return fixtures a week later.
