KAMPALA- On the opening day of the on-going Division One National 50-Over League, Jinja SS coach Habibu Mugalula closely watched holders Tornado B defeat Tornado by 80 runs at Lugogo Oval.

Having witnessed Tornado’s shortcomings on April 27, Mugalula told this paper that his youthful side would pull off a surprise against the 2012 winners.

But not many will believe his words as his side are in their first season of topflight cricket.

And when Mugalula’s boys are hosted by Tornado at Lugogo Oval today, he has a chance to walk the talk.

“We respect Tornado,” he said. “But I am backing my boys to do what they did to earn promotion to the first division.”

The Jinja SS teacher plans to unleash the spin bowling pair of Saddam Oyaga and Calvin Watuwa against Tornado’s top-order of Davis Turinawe, Deus Muhumuza and veteran Benjamin Musoke (89 runs).

“My boys also bat deep unlike their side that has a long tail,” Mugalula added. But Tornado skipper Frank Nsubuga, who leads the bowlers with 10 scalps, won’t welcome any pleasantries from the Jinja crew. “We already lost one game and cannot afford another loss now,” he said.
