Museveni for Fufa Drum launch

KAMPALA.

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be the chief guest at the inaugural Fufa Drum launch this Saturday at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja. Also expected to attend is the speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga and chief host Kyabazinga of Busoga Gabula Nadiope.
“President Museveni is expected to attend and will be accompanied by the speaker,” organising committee chairman Rogers Byamukama revealed yesterday at Mengo.
“We are expecting a big crowd at the Kyabazinga Stadium but we shall accommodate all of them in several aspects,” he added. As Busoga prepares to battle Bugisu in the opening fixture on Saturday, their coaches were in an upbeat mood. “Busoga is the home of football and thus this team will prove that on the pitch by picking three points off Bugisu,” Charles Ayiekoh promised. His counterpart Godfrey ‘Toldo’ Awach vowed to ‘circumcise’ their opponents.
“The Bagisu are known for Imbalu and this is the year for the cultural exercise therefore Busoga province can’t survive circumcision on Saturday’ he vowed.
Relatedly, Fufa CEO Edgar Watson, urged all clubs to respect and oblige to the guidelines of the competition. Uganda Premier League leaders Vipers had barred their players from participating in the tourney.
The cardinal penalties to be meted out include; the club losing the game by forfeiture if they use a sanctioned player, any player who does not participate shall not be elegible to benefit from the national team’s remuneration scheme (Shs1m monthly) in that particular month.
