Mutebi appears at training a day after losing his father

Kampala.

Barely a day after the passing of his father, KCCA coach Mike Mutebi was at the club’s morning training session at Lugogo yesterday morning.
Christopher Mutebi passed away on Tuesday after an accident that led to internal cleaning in the brain earlier in the day at IHK Hospital in Namuwongo, a Kampala suburb.
But this was kept away from Mutebi until after his club had defeated BUL 2-1 thanks to a 94th minute effort by Derrick Nsibambi at Lugogo which took the Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) title race to the final day on Friday.
“I was only told after the match,” Mutebi revealed to Daily Monitor yesterday. “He was in induced coma for some time but when I was told that he was now in a cardiac arrest situation, I knew he was not going to survive.”
Like many in the African setting, mourning a loved one drags one away from work. But not Mutebi.
“These things (death) happen. There is little I can do. After burial, I hope I can make the second half in Namboole,” he noted after receiving condolence messages from journalists at Legends.
Mutebi (pic below) saw the funny side of Vipers’ premature title celebrations after the Kitende-based team’s jubilation on Tuesday.
“It was good drama for the league and we are here until the final day.”
