KAMPALA/BUIKWE

Mike Mutyaba was on the scoresheet in the local league for the first time in three years as Vipers rallied to earn a point in the 2-2 Uganda Premier League (UPL) draw with KCC in Buikwe on Tuesday.
The midfielder has been in and out of Vipers on loan since the 2010-2011 season when he moved from the then Bunnamwaya to Sudan’s El-Merreikh and, thereafter, to DRC’s TP Mazembe. He nursed injuries in between and had a long lay-off before rejoining Vipers this season.
He twice leveled for coach Edward Golola’s team in the ninth and 65th minutes yesterday. Returning from injuries and club trials respectively, Brian Majwega first put coach George Nsimbe’s KCC ahead on five minutes before Brian Umony’s 13th minute goal was cancelled by Mutyaba.

The result leaves Vipers, who were dropping their first points in four games, third with 10 points and KCC 11th on five points.
In Lugazi, Robert Ssentongo’s 69th minute strike reduced pressure on URA coach Alex Isabirye as they finally won a game in five attempts, beating SCVU 1-0.
Victory moves URA five places up to ninth with six points, same as SCVU, who drop two to 10th.
Lweza also claimed their third win in six games when Farouk Musisi struck on 31 minutes. But the biggest winners on the day were SC Villa, who ended top of the table with 13 points after six games without even scoring a goal. The 16-time record champions drew goalless at Bul in Jinja but a UPL ruling taken in accordance with Article 32(1) of Fufa Competitions Rules 2014/2015 ensured that Express lost their abandoned match with SC Villa last Friday by a 3-0 scoreline.

The article states that “incidents included in the match reports shall be considered as proof for committing indicated offences unless proved otherwise by other tangible evidence”.
The match reports “indicate that the fans of the visiting team (Express) consistently threw stones on the field of play which culminated into a lot of tear gas being fired, hence forcing the referee to abandon the match in the 77th minute of play”. Express can appeal this ruling to the disciplinary Committee in accordance with Article 33 (11) of Fufa Competitions Rules.
