KAMPALA.

The desire to follow Standard Liege midfielder Farouk Miya to paid ranks in Europe formed KCCA left winger Joseph Ochaya’s decision to decline a move to Kenyan champions Gor Mahia in June, the player has claimed.

Ochaya is now a starter in the national team and is enjoying a rich vein of form at club level, which prompted the Kenyan side to inquire about his availability this month.

“They approached the club and talked to me but they couldn’t meet most of my demands. I have set my target to move to Europe and that’s why I have rejected four more offers from Africa,” said the former Asante Kotoko versatile left back.
A club in Hungary is said to be monitoring Ochaya but the player says he can’t confirm that at the moment.

“I am now fully focused at winning two trophies (KCCA, leading the league table by 9 points, beat Bright Stars in the Uganda Cup quarters yesterday) with my club and then look into that after,” he said.

Two Uganda Cranes stars; Godfrey Walusimbi and Khalid Aucho, currently ply their trade with Gor but Ochaya, who had a brief stint in Vietnam in 2011 with Navibank Saigon, believes a move to Europe is better.
We couldn’t confirm from Gor Mahia whether they indeed made a move for Ochaya.
