Okhuti hopes Onduparaka move can revive his career

Kampala.

Tired of life on the fringes at Lugogo, striker Ceaser Okhuti boldly put in a transfer request to KCCA manager Mike Mutebi to escape ‘the misery’.

Just in January, KCCA expensively bought Okhuti from city rivals Express hoping he could add on the eight league goals he had scored for the Red Eagles.

Okhuti added just three league goals last season as KCCA won the league title and has found playing time hard to come by this season falling behind Geoffrey Sserunkuuma and Derrick Nsibambi in the pecking order.

The imminent arrival of goal machine Robert Ssentongo has forced Okhuti to seek a six-month refuge at home club Ondurapaka, which he played for before joining Express last year.

“I want to play regularly so that I impress Uganda Cranes coach (Micho Sredojevic) to consider me for the upcoming national team engagements (Cecafa, Afcon and World Cup qualifiers).

Life had become complex at Lugogo and I got calls from my home team which I couldn’t turn down,” said the former Ediofe Hills and Vipers striker.

KCCA deputy manager Morley Byekwaso said Okhuti failed to thrive at Lugogo due to the persistent injuries and lackluster form.

“He wanted to play whenever he left the surgeon’s table but that wasn’t possible especially with strikers that played well in our preferred formations. He asked to leave and we felt concerned to give him freedom,” Byekwaso revealed.

Onduparaka CEO Anthony Affeti is the happiest man at the moment, for he knows what the acquisition of Okhuti’s services brings to the club of their caliber.

“He is going to guide our youthful players on how to encounter big games. He is respected here in Arua and will attract us a few more fans.”|
