Onduparaka FC cancels friendly against Gulu United FC

Onduparaka FC has called off its much awaited friendly game with the revamped Gulu United FC following the breakdown of its team bus.

The two teams were expected to face off this afternoon at Pece War Memorial Stadium in Gulu town, the home ground of Gulu United FC.

In an apology letter to Gulu United, Anthony Afeti, the Chief Executive Officer, Onduparaka FC, says they can't make it for the match due to the breakdown of their bus.
"We had opted to hire another car since this game would mean a lot to the team and fans at large; it also became harder when the bus services were charged highly beyond the Shs3.5m club budget," he said.
The Onduparaka FC Chairman, Isaac Agiyo also told this reporter that many of their Kampala based players weren't available for selection making it hard to travel with half team.

Gulu United FC fans had expected the friendly tie to evaluate the tactical competences of the rejuvenated club that finished top of Zone 3 Mini League with 33 points automatically qualifying for the Zonal Mini League.

Gulu United FC alias the Black Rangers played in the Ugandan Big League in the 2011-12 seasons. The Black Rangers made their first appearance in the Ugandan Super League in the 1999 season but were relegated.

In the 2005 season, the club participated in the Super League which was run on group and knock-out basis but suffered drop zone after finishing last in Group B. Subsequently, they were relegated after failing to complete their fixtures away to Kinyara, Kakira and Lugazi FC sides.

Onduparaka FC said they will focus on their next and final match of the 2017-2018 campaign against the Wakiso based Bright Stars FC at the Green Light Stadium on Friday July 25, 2018 in Arua.
