What you need to know:

Soccer. After no point in the last two games, Uganda Cranes are now bottom of the group and must beat Ghana at home and Guinea away to qualify for a first Africa Cup of Nations in nearly four decades

Lome.
When Brian Majwega squandered that glorious chance minutes before Togo punished the Cranes with the winner, many hearts must have skipped a bit.

For goalkeeper Dennis Onyango, his beat faster; quickly taking him back to October 2011 when a goalless draw with Kenya at Namboole on the final day of the 2012 Afcon campaign ended Uganda’s qualification dreams.

Uganda dominated the game and missed several glorious chances, and that is not to take credit away from outstanding Kenyan goalkeeper Arnold Origi on the day.

One of those chances at Namboole Onyango remembered the moment Majwega failed to convert his fell to Mike Mutyana in the final minutes of the game.

“What went on in my mind immediately is that Kenya game,” Onyango told Daily Monitor at the team’s hotel after the Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Togo.

“There is a young boy who missed the header (scratches his head), yeah… Mike Mutyaba.

“He had a similar opportunity, it didn’t go in and we failed to qualify. So when we missed that chance I knew in my mind that we might be facing danger, and from there it came back to haunt us and we conceded.”

The Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper added: “But we are not here to blame, we are here to help each other.

“So we are not blaming Brian for missing the chance, anyone can miss a chance. We are still strong, we still believe we can qualify for Afcon 2015.”
