Police, KCCA dominate TV games as league fixtures are released

What you need to know:

  • Onduparaka is scheduled to have five games on TV while Express, Mbarara City, Nyamityobora, Tooro United (formerly Soana) and Paidha will appear three times each.
  • Bright Stars, Ndejje University, Maroons, Bul and Kirinya-Jinja SS have the least number of games, two to be shown on TV.

Kampala. A total of 38 league games will be aired on Sanyuka TV when the 2018/19 first round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season kicks off Friday following the release of provisional fixtures yesterday.
But Police (11), Vipers (10), SC Villa and KCCA (both eight games) will dominate games that will be aired live.

All live games are scheduled to be played at the StarTimes Stadium Lugogo, St Mary’s Stadium Kitende and Mandela National Stadium Namboole.
Onduparaka’s Greenlight Stadium and Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku are the other two stadiums outside the gazetted three that will each host one game each. Onduparaka’s highly anticipated West Nile derby against newly promoted Paidha Black Angels, who will also use the stadium for their home matches, will be aired live on television on December 8. Wankulukuku will host the game between Express and Onduparaka on December 1.

Lugogo, which will be used by both Police and KCCA for their home matches, will be the busiest with nineteen home games to be hosted at the stadium between September 29, 2018 and January 8, 2019 for the duration of the first round.
Police will have the most games on TV, 11 followed by Vipers with 10. KCCA and Villa will have eight games aired live with URA FC following on seven.
