  • The celebrations continued for several minutes up to the Vipers dressing room before information filtered through of the actual result.

YESTERDAY’S AUPL RESULTS

KCCA 2-1 BUL
Vipers 5-0 Express

KAMPALA. Vipers remain favourites to clinch a third Azam Uganda Premier League title.

But for a brief period after mauling Express 5-0 at the St. Mary’s Stadium yesterday, they gave a glimpse of how the celebrations will be like if they are crowned the champions. It all started with match announcer Wycliffe Luyombya, who was also updating the crowd about proceedings at the Star Times Stadium declaring 1-1 result between KCCA and Bul rather than the 2-1 eventual scoreline.
The result would have given Vipers a four point cushion ahead of Friday’s final round of games.

With the game in Kitende having ended just shortly before his announcement, the already excited crowd went wild.
The players, holding hands then did a lap of honour to acknowledge the fans support.

Others like goalkeeper Ismail Watenga threw his jersey at the fans before the players converged to lift head coach Miguel Da Costa shoulder high.

Up in the stands, Vipers chairman Lawrence Mulindwa spotted a wide grin having been on the receiving end of abuse from some Express fans.

Head of marketing Simon Sekankya meanwhile raised his hands in celebration from his executive seat before making his way to the turf in record time where he was also lifted by the players.
The celebrations continued for several minutes up to the Vipers dressing room before information filtered through of the actual result.

The scenario was reminiscent of former Fufa CEO Charles Masembe whose miscalculation had the public the country in excitement about qualification from the initial stages of the 2010 Afcon qualifiers.
