Proline unmoved as Police continue steady progress

KAMPALA. It is only three games into the 2017/18 Azam Uganda Premier League season but the signs already appear good for former champions Police.
After flirting with relegation for long spells last season, the Cops could end the weekend on top of the table following a commanding 2-0 win over Proline at Namboole on Friday evening. Norman Ogik scored both goals on the day but it was their approach play that will be remembered most as they moved to seven points from three games.
“We are yet to get to half way of what we can do. We are hoping to build a team that can compete this season,” Police coach Abdallah Mubiru said after the game.
They did just enough to go into half time with a 1-0 lead after Albert Mugisa squared for Ogik to tap home at the far post just after the half hour mark.
The striker then got his second on 57 minutes from a fast break orchestrated by Proline old boy Gift Ali. The midfielder fed the impressive substitute Ben Ochen who unselfishly squared for Ogik. The Cops then turned on the style against a Proline team who on this performance are likely to have a long season ahead.
“We were disjointed today but that was expected because of the number of changes in our team. We will certainly get better,” Proline manager Mujib Kasule remarked. His team remain with a single point.
