SC Villa, Vipers let off the hook in UPL suspensions

KAMPALA.

With each Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) team left with at least six games, the season is certainly at a critical stage.
Two of the three title contenders SC Villa and Vipers will, however, have to negotiate the better part of that period without their respective coaches Wasswa Bbosa and Miguel Da Costa.

Assesssors’ reports
This is after the Fufa Competitions Disciplinary Panel (CDP) upon being petitioned by the AUPL secretariat and basing on both reports from the respective centre referees and match assessors suspended the coaches for four games each.
They however appear to have been let off the hook after Kirinya-Jinja were also docked a point and a goal in addition to handing a four-game touchline ban to coach Charles Ayieko in the first round.
Ayieko during his side’s game against Soana, was found guilty of attacking match officials.
Similarly, Vipers’ Da Costa and club CEO Peter Lwanga are accused of attacking and confronting centre referee Ronald Kirangwa during their goal-less draw against Bul while goalkeeper James Alitho attacked assistant referee Okello Lee earlier this month.

Unhappy Bbosa
Villa’s Bbosa, meanwhile, had to be restrained by his assistant Paul Mukatabala, who is mentioned but not punished, in the attack on referee Deogratius Opio, who was in charge of their club’s 2-0 win over Soana. Bbosa told the Daily Monitor at the time that he believed some referees come with the intention of making decisions against his side.
This is after Opio awarded a penalty to Soana that was saved by goalkeeper Samson Kirya as Villa led 1-0 in the first half.
