SC Villa accuse Vipers of trying to instigate violence

KAMPALA.

The much anticipated clash between league leaders SC Villa and third placed Vipers at the Masaka Recreation Ground was largely incident free as the visitors earned a 1-0 win.
But having seen his club provide what he termed as ‘perfect security’, Villa president Ben Misagga has accused their opponents of trying to instigate violence. This is after Vipers captain Nicholas Wadada reportedly broke glass as the visitors made their way to the dressing rooms at the start of the second half. “We showed the country how to provide security at major sporting events. You just don’t bring military police to stadiums like was the case in Kitende,” Misagga stated.

Vandalising our property
“But having done our best then the Vipers players decide to vandalize our property. We are writing to the league for them to take action.” Vipers spokesperson Abdu Wasike however strongly refuted the violence claims and knowledge of property being vandalised.
“As a club we would never condone any form of violence. I have also not got wind of any property destroyed. If Villa have a complaint they can file it and we shall duly respond,” he stated. There had been fears of rival fans clashing following the team’s heated first round meeting in September.
Villa were docked two points and goals in the first round after their fans were found guilty of vandalizing part of the St. Mary’s stadium as Vipers recorded a 1-0 victory.
