Saddam: We want to win Uganda Cup for Express

KAMPALA.

There is a growing belief in the Express camp that the Red Eagles can lift this year’s Uganda Cup despite their indifferent form in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Skipper Saddam Juma admits that the league contest is almost out of their reach this season since they currently sit eighth in the Uganda Premier League.
They have won only five matches in 17 outings with 13 games left to play.

“Everyone at the club knows that we are just fighting for a respectable finish in the league. All our hope and energy is now geared towards winning the Uganda Cup which we believe can be attained,” he told Sunday Monitor.

Matia Lule’s side take on Fufa Big League club Dove All Stars at Wankulukuku this afternoon with hope of progressing to the finals that will be held in West Nile in May.

“We were punished by Bul (3-0) in our last league outing but we have worked on our mistakes,” the attacking midfielder added.
“I won the Uganda Cup with Vipers last season but it will give me extra joy if I lifted it as Express captain.”

Express, winners in 1985, 1991, 1992, 1994,1995, 1997,2001, 2003,2006 and 2007, go into today’s tie as favorites with no major injury worries.
