KAMPALA. Angelo Lonyesi will take charge of today’s Police game when they face URA after head coach Sam Timbe resigned over the weekend citing poor results and a breach of contract.
This followed Friday’s 3-0 defeat to champions KCCA, a result that left the team second from bottom with one win from 10 games.
Timbe who signed a new two-year deal in July was believed to be unhappy by revelations of his new contract by one of the club’s officials which brought about tensions at the club.
“I have discovered that the club players’ underserving low morale which has led to continued poor results on the pitch is attached to my presence and particularly my recently renewed contract” read part of the resignation letter a copy of which Daily Monitor has seen.

Timbe was in his second stint at the club having won the 2006 regional Kagame Cup with the same team.
His second tenure which lasted just over a year having returned from Kenya’s Sofapaka, saw Police finish eighth on the 16 team log last season.
It was however blighted by a disconnect between the Caf license A holder and his players who he often accused of “sabotaging” the team’s plans.
“The players feared him often failed to understand his instructions,” one player stated. Timbe is currently the most successful coaches in the region having won the regional Kagame Cup four times as well as league titles in three countries with SC Villa, Atraco (Rwanda) and Young Africans (Tanzania).
