She Corporate progress pegged back in Fufa Women Elite League

Maggie Kayima and Jackie Nassali scored for Rines in a 2-1 win over She Corporates at Wakisha as the Victoria Group sides attempted to get into the playoff positions of the Fufa Women Elite League.
Prior to the game, She Corporate, who had started the FWEL second round with two wins on the bounce, were a win shy of breaking into the top two. Now the Mubs side find themselves in an awkward situation where they trail second placed Ajax (17 points) by five points and Gafford by one point. Hajara Agaba conceded an own goal to allow She Corporate a consolation but that was not enough to rally a comeback as their away form came back to bite. Now Rines also have 12 points but trail She Corporate on goal difference.
Elsewhere Phiona Nabumba scored the lone goal as Ajax (17 points and just five behind leaders Kawempe Muslim) beat Muteesa I Royal University 1-0 in Buddo.
“We have been unlucky in the previous games but its time to change our fortunes,” Ajax coach Michael Natima said, as his side that had a false start to the second round turn attention to next weekend’s Fufa Women Cup opening round, where they host Wakiso Hills, next weekend.
Lillian Veronica and Jacky Ogol scored for Gafford Ladies in a 2-1 win over Western United to keep within reach of a playoff spot
