Speaking to Daily Monitor, the association’s General Secretary, Mr Patrick Kanyomozi says Luwandagga will greatly be missed by the sports scribes and the entire country.
"His death is a great loss to the association because he has played a vital role in mentoring Uganda’s sports journalists," Kanyomozi said.

Luwandagga served as USPA General Secretary from 1988-1991 and then president from 1991 to 1993.
“He is going to be greatly missed because he has along the way mentored very many people including myself; and almost every sports journalist, especially broadcasters, will tell you that they were mentored or inspired by Andrew,” Mr Kanyomozi said.
Luwandagga's youngest son, studying at Kampala International University in Year one, Michael Sefuma, said that they are seven children in the family and they were shocked by the death of their father because he has been the pillar and the bread winner.
“I was shocked early in the morning at school after receiving a call from one of the family members that my father is dead, I thought that they were kidding,” Sefuma said, adding that on reaching home, the body had been already taken to Mulago hospital for a postmortem.
At the deceased’s home in Namasuba, the widow took the news badly and was rushed to a nearby clinic after she collapsed.
