Despite the huge victory, Lisa Berg who is assisting the coach Edward Kaziba remained cautious.
As South Sudan coach James Wani put it, the winner between the Uganda under-20 women team and their South Sudan
counterparts was never in doubt.
At the final whistle on Saturday at the Phillip Omondi stadium in Luugogo the result read Uganda 13-0 South Sudan. “This
was our first competitive fixture and we certainly did not expect to win.” We had to start somewhere but unfortunately
it was against a good and experienced Ugandan side,” said Wani after the game.
Even with a 9-0 first leg win in Juba, the Ugandans started as though they were the side that wanted to overturn that
deficit. Within 20 minutes, it was 5-0 and by half time it was 7-0.
Nassuna Hasifa and the substitute Sandra Nabweteme helped themselves to hat-tricks. Sylvia Nakazibwe, Naome Nagadya and
the centre back Jenninga Awadifo also got themselves onto the score sheet. The evening though belonged to Ritah
Kivumbi, the right winger who also scored twice in the first leg. On Saturday she netted four times but it was her
fourth goal and the last that took the breath away.
