Kampala- Like many sports administrators in the country Villa president Ben Misagga has his flaws but with a good business sense too.

Criticised for the massive player turnover at the club, the Villa supremo is now seeking to use the situation to his and the club’s advantage.

“If the fans want me to believe they really don’t want to see some of these players leave then they should the love by buying their replica jerseys,” he told the Daily Monitor.

The plan
The club on Saturday consequently unveiled an ambitious plan of selling up to 10,000 replica jerseys that they hope will help them raise Shs250m.

According to Missaga Shs 16m has already been raised after the jerseys and season cards went on the market three days ago with demand high for winger Vitaly Tabu who was signed from Arua side Onduparaka.

At the function held at the club’s training ground, the club also launched season cards that will go for at least Shs10,000 with Shs12.4m raised thus far.

The club which boasts arguably the biggest attendance in the topflight league have made up to 10 new signings as they look to bounce back after a disappointing season that ended without silverware.

Seeing how KCCA FC have taken the lead in professionalising their methods, Misagga’s SC Villa are hoping to more than match them on and off the pitch.
