What you need to know:

  • The striker has rediscovered his scoring touch, netting in the past two games to form a formidable trident that includes current league top scorer Milton Karisa (8 goals) and Dan Serunkuma.
  • In Mwererwe, Bright Stars start life without coach Fred Kajoba who is away for referesher coach in the US against a second from bottom Express team desperate for points.

Kampala. Mbarara City has had a decent debut season in the Azam Uganda Premier League sitting ninth on the 16-team log with 21 points just after the halfway stage.
Reason for that start is a steely defence that has seen the Ankole Lions concede just 10 goals in 17 games and only once in the previous six.
The record is as such the best in the league outside of SC Villa and KCCA the top two teams in the division.
That statistic is expected to come under serious threat this evening when they come up against Vipers at the St. Mary’s Stadium.

The Venoms with 21 points boast of the second best offensive record in the league and scored 14 goals in their last 6 games including a 3-1 Uganda Cup win over Police on Saturday. Victory today will also guarantee top spot for third placed Vipers who are a point behind leaders SC Villa and level with KCCA but with both teams not in action.
“We need to stay at the same level of motivation we started with this second round, try to compete in our best way and try to win every game. We are going to be brave, we are going to try to win every remaining game. We need to play with freedom and clear ideas. It’s a game we must enjoy,” Erisa Sekisambu stated.

The striker has rediscovered his scoring touch, netting in the past two games to form a formidable trident that includes current league top scorer Milton Karisa (8 goals) and Dan Serunkuma.
All three were on target on Saturday and will be up against a Mbarara side who also had Clinton Kamugisha, Hillary Mukundane and Siraje Musindo score in a 3-0 win over lower league Nabitende in the Uganda Cup. At the Betway Greenlight Stadium, coach Livingstone Mbabazi will be under pressure to deliver against Bul as his side seek a first win in four games after being eliminated 3-2 by Soana in the Uganda Cup.

In Mwererwe, Bright Stars start life without coach Fred Kajoba who is away for referesher coach in the US against a second from bottom Express team desperate for points.
“We won the Uganda cup game against Moyo and he instilled the way we are supposed to play even when he is not around. We als played well when the coach had a touchline ban in the first round,” Bright Stars captain Nelson Senkatuka noted.
