Vipers striker Ssekisambu convinced he will win the league’s MVP title

Kampala. Uganda Cranes and Vipers forward Erisa Ssekisambu believes nothing will stand in his way as he bids to win the Azam Uganda Premier League most valuable player (MVP) award come the D-day on August 12 at Serena Hotel.
Ssekisambu (left) scored 16 league goals as Vipers finished second last season and netted another seven in the Uganda Cup tourney his club bagged recently.
“I’m happy and honoured to have been nominated for the overall award. I pray to God that I win it because I truly deserve it,” he said.

He will be tussling it out with KCCA versatile defender Joseph Ochaya who scored seven league goals in the club’s winning campaign and URA’s 18-goal hero Robert Ssentongo.
Ochaya provides Ssekisambu the most fierce challenge in the three horse race but Ssekisambu, who won the Uganda Cup MVP accolade, insists this is his year.

“Of course Ochaya and Ssentongo will provide stiff competition but my general contribution will give me the edge over them,” he added.
Ssekisambu’s steady progress has seen him break into the national team ranks and Vipers deputy coach Edward Golola reveals they will encounter next month’s club CECAFA cup relying on his fine form.
“He has grown up into a dependable striker who can take the club to greater heights. He fitted in well at Vipers after joining from Villa a season ago and we believe he will be better next season,” Golola noted.
