Wadada stands out on his return from wilderness

Morroco blues. Onyango feels that defender Wadada did little to enhance his reputation considering that he has been a mainstay with the senior side.

KAMPALA. Since Micho Sredojevic took charge of the Cranes in 2013, Dennis Guma who had made his name as a central defender and midfielder seemed to have made the right back slot his own.
But with the player missing through suspension, Micho was forced to make a decision on who to play in what was arguably the biggest game of his Cranes tenure. Nicholas Wadada, Dennis Okot and Joseph Nsubuga seemed the viable options at his disposal.
But with he last two having been preferred over the last two years, few would have expected Wadada, also the Vipers captain to make the final team.
The player had not featured for the national team since 2014 despite putting in consistent displays for his club.
Thrown in at the deep end yesterday, Wadada surprised many with a robust performance that could only be rivalled by Cranes’ Farouk Miya.
The right back was a constant threat whenever he ventured upfront while also managing to keep his marker Charmed Nasser in check. “He has shown that he can deliver under the most difficult circumstances. He is definitely a huge addition to the team.
“He had a boda boda accident after Chan and that seemed to set him back,” Micho stated in yesterday’s post-match conference.
The player could also have picked a couple of assists had Geoffrey Massa and substitute Emma Okwi connected with his deliveries.
