Uganda will send a half-baked team to the World Youth Boxing Championships in Yerevan, Armenia after failing to secure funds for residential training.

Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UBAF) named a five-man team for the event due November 28 to December 7 and had hoped to start residential training last Monday.

“There is no money. We need at least Shs20m,” UABF president Godfrey Nyakana said. “This will definitely affect the performance of the boys but it is not what we wish for.”

Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) vice-president Denis Galabuzi said that despite the lack of funds, they would continue preparing the boys for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Team: Juma Kaggwa, Rodgers Ssentamu, Moses Bob Asia, David Ochan and Emmanuel Nsubuga.
