A beer to curb human trafficking introduced in Uganda
It is rare for one to start up a business with a noble cause rather than making profits. It was not the same case last weekend when Not For Sale Ale, an International beer was launched.
For starters, Not For Sale Ale beer is actually for sale but the sales from the beer are used for a good cause. The beer, which has been in existence since 2007, was officially launched in Uganda to reduce the high rate of human trafficking. The money from the beer sales is used to recover women, men and children who have been kidnapped allover Africa. There are many cases where people are duped for jobs internationally but end up working as slaves in different countries.
The launch, which was hosted by KFM radio presenter, James Peterson, took place at Yasigi Beer Gardens in Kololo. Being a beer launch, revellers who were on special invitation, were treated to Not For Sale Ale beer tasting as they kept ordering for bottle after bottle since they were on the house.
At the launch, there was entertainment from Sandy Soul, an Afro Jazz and Soul singer. She performed together with a band in different intervals as the revellers enjoyed the beer. Speaking at the launch, Ulf Stenerhag, the founder of Not For Sale Ale, said the beer which was introduced in the country for the first time, is brewed in Amsterdam by a company known as Half Moon Bay Brewing Company. The beer was an idea of an NGO known as Not for Sale, an organisation that fights against human trafficking in the world.
