For well-presented food

What you need to know:

To enjoy pizza, fish and all manner of steaks, look no further than Gatto Matto.

Gatto Matto used to be called Katch the Sun. If memory serves me right, it was owned by a Canadian woman and managed by a Ugandan woman. Looking from the outside, the façade is deceptive and without entering one is surprised to find a quaint and spacious al fresco eating joint with commodious fairly comfortable lounge seats replete with pillows.

Ambiance
Situated in a town house, it is mainly an outdoor place but with somewhat limited sitting indoors. This comes in handy during inclement weather though by and large, the main attraction is the al fresco setting. There is also a small craft shop and a spa that offers massage and the like.

The menu
It is termed as continental with an Italian bias as well as favourite runners such as pizzas, fish and steaks. One should plan to spend not less than Shs15,000 and above. The food is good and well-presented. The coffee gets rave reviews ranging from the popular house coffee to the more exotic cappuccinos and iced coffees plus iced teas.

Entertainment
Band night is every Tuesday and Friday featuring the best of Kampala’s local musicians. I’m informed that they also have gospel choirs and live shows on certain Saturdays and during special occasions.
