Local food is always winner

I’m reliably informed that Café Mebanas on Twed Towers has ceased operations. Sad but given the astronomical rents that obtain in the CBD making ends meet in the restaurant business is a great challenge.

Punters who are ready to fork out Shs20,000 plus for a meal have and increasing choice of joints from which to choose. Competition is definitely a reality and without a doubt has taken its toll.

What is on menu
On the other hand, All Sisters Restaurant in Ndeeba is among a handful of local food eateries that have been around for years (25 plus in business and at the same location is nothing to sneeze at) and seem to grow, year-in and year- out and never seem to be short of loyal and well-to-do suburbanites and city dwellers.

The menu never changes and remains consistently and predictably excellent. With a choice of beef stew; boiled or fried albeit be assured of having meaty ribs that Ugandans so love!

Goat stew and chicken stew and a very commendable tilapia fish stew that is never a letdown. Pilao and steamed white are never absent with the accompaniments for the main course of beans, greens, peas and whatever vegetable happens to be on hand and in season.

Servicewise
The food is basic local food bereft of additives such as Royco while at the same time being filling and wholesome.

The service is predictable and efficient. During the past two decades, All Sisters has distinguished itself as being the kind of place where one is readily assured of the same standard of food that is always well prepared while at the same time being reasonably priced. Take the matooke, truly outstanding and always a winner.

The place is tiny and wholly unpretentious and gets to be very busy. If possible opt for an early lunch or after 3pm. All Sisters Restaurant is a bargain and remains one of our preferred joints for traditional fare.
