We all have dreams we would like to achieve and Kyosiga’s dream is to go through school and become the president one day. He shares his dream in a movie titled Kyosiga’s Dream (Esuubi lya Kyosiga), which premiered at The Hub cinema - Oasis Mall, on Thursday.

Kyosiga, played by 11-year-old Emmanuel Kezimbira, tells of the hardships of a village boy who has to do numerous chores before going to school. This coupled with the broken communication between his parents and himself also deter him from freely expressing himself. It is 25-minutes short movie.

“While they appear average daily activity patterns typical to any ordinary household, village and school, they are shown to constrain or aid in the learning process. The film is intended to induce popular action to support learning achievement for children in school,” the commentary from the synopsis partly reads. The film is a project by Uwezo Uganda, an initiative that aims to improve literacy and numeracy among children aged six to 16 years in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

The Executive Director and country coordinator of Uwezo, Richard Ssewakiryanga said that they would like to take this movie to as many public places as possible as a way of sensitising masses about the need to promote learning by children.

The guest list attracted movie star Abbey Mukiibi, education consultant Fagil Monday who pointed out that the home is the biggest school in the world, former minister Kirunda Kivejinja who was chief guest and radio personality James Onen alias Fat Boy among others.
