Children showcase talent at green festival

What you need to know:

Even when it is not in the school curriculum, we have managed to make environmental conservation education fun and exciting for children in their schools and families.”

It was a fine day, of sunshine and sprinklings of rain, as a mammoth crowd of little ones came together for the annual Green Fun Festival at Kololo Airstrip on Sunday.

Joseph Masembe, the Chief Executive Officer of Uganda’s Little Hands Go Green, the NGO behind the event, says the event is a mixture of a fun filled day for the little ones and environmental conservation awareness. “It is no longer just a fun festival.

Even when it is not in the school curriculum, we have managed to make environmental conservation education fun and exciting for children in their schools and families.”

Gates opened as early as 9am and the crowd only kept growing bigger. There was a lot to keep the young souls engaged from bouncy castles to face painting, water games, wild animals to view, camel and horse rides and a lot to enjoy from the performances on stage.

But the highlight was the performance of the Sitya Loss kids, dance in Eddy Kenzo’s Sitya Loss song that is viral on YouTube.
