NTV style project presenter, Betty Nassali alias Bettinah Tianah is upbeat that the upcoming Uganda Festival fashion weekend is the best opportunity to exploit the fashion space in the diaspora and market Ugandan products.

The cocacola trophy world cup tour influencer is tasked with a role to host the red carpet show at the Fashion Weekend scheduled from August 31 to September 3 in Washington DC.
The Fashion weekend is part of a series of programs set for the Uganda Festival, also dubbed summers ultimate event, an annual convention organized by Ugandans in the Diaspora under their umbrella body UNAA Causes.

During the fashion weekend, several Ugandan fashionistas like; Arapapa founder Santa Anzo, Fatuma Nakaziba of the popular Fatuma Asha brands and renown designer Anita Beryl will showcase outfits originally designed by Ugandans.
And for Bettinah, there has never been a perfect opportunity market Uganda to the rest of the world than the fashion weekend.
“It is a great initiative, we are going to have designers like Fatuma Asha, Anita Beryl, the clothes they are going to showcase could as well be sold at the event or after. We are bringing Ugandan fashion to the United States, People there love it because it is affordable and it brings them closer to home,” Bettinah said.

“The fashion weekend will bridge the gap, we are excited we shall be selling Uganda to the rest of the world and it is a great opportunity. I met the US ambassador and told her about the fashion weekend, she said it would really be nice because they never get people going to US to sale Ugandan fashion, that means Ugandan fashion has an opportunity in the US thanks to this event,” she added.

Speaking about her role as the host of the day, Bettinah promised a thrilling performance, saying she would be collaborating with international photographers for a great red carpet experience as well as creating a perfect script with her producer as the event will be featured on her program- NTV Style Project.
“I am ready to learn from people and they should be ready to learn from me, in case anyone has any inquiries or have a specific interest of what they would want at the fashion weekend, let them get in touch with me. We are going to air this on NTV style project,” she said.

Betinah is among a host of Ugandans that will make up a fun filled Festival at Gaylord Harbour in Washington DC come September.
Also expected at the event include; her workmate Faridah Nakazibwe, KFM presenter Brian Mulondo, Sanyu FM’s Crystal Newman and model Natasha Sinayobye.
The event has already attracted artistes like Nigerias Rudeboy of the defuct Psquare singing duo, Uganda’s Afrigo Band, David Lutalo, Weasel, Lydia Jazmine, and Geo Steady among others.
According to the events organisers led by UNAA Causes publicity secretary Caroli Mpoza, “this is an opportunity to celebrate Uganda through fashion and entertainment.”
