Good lyfe duo gets better with time

In Summary

Several hits. The Good Lyfe duo showed they have got their groove back at the Friday concert. Their latest album, Obudde, which they launched at the concert has hits like Magnetic, Can’t Let You Go, Ekyaama, Fitting featuring Desire Luzinda and Kiboko featuring Kenya’s Amani among others.

The Good Lyfe Crew kept their promise of a top notch performance during the launch of their Obudde album at Hotel Africana, People’s Space, on Friday night. Revellers kept their heads high as they sang along to Radio and Weasel’s songs from the first to the last.

The duo came on stage at exactly 10.37pm. They kicked off their performance accompanied by a live band with their hit Can’t Let You Go. They were dressed in white and yellow costumes like motor bike racers, with Weasel wearing a chain that had a big clock dangling from it, in reference to their album name. They then performed their old songs starting with Nakudata, Lwaki Onumya, Bread and Butter, Everything I Do, Nakutamani, Nyumbani and others.

Later on, Amani from Kenya came on stage and performed Tonight and Bad Boy. “I want to see everybody looking at the screens right now, this is a brand new video called Kiboko by Radio and Weasel featuring Amani,” she said as a new video was premiered. Mc Kats told the crowd that the video cost $30,000 (about Shs78m) to make. This figure could not be immediately verified.

Radio and Weasel then came back on stage donning black blazers, yellow T-shirts and white pants. They then performed their newer songs like Fantastic, Tonjagala, Ngenda Kwekola Ekintu, Pollination, Akalimu and Mukama amongst others. “I want to thank the most wonderful mother in the world, Mama Jane Kasuubo,” Radio introduced her mother who was seated in the VIP.

Guitarist and soul musician Myko Ouma, who was part of the band that backed the singers came to the fore and put up quite a show with his guitar playing skills as the duo performed Ekyaama, which is their latest song off the Obudde album. Desire Luzinda then come on and did Fitting, her collaboration the boys as the crowd screamed, asking them to redo the song. They also performed the title track Obudde and the runaway hit, Magnetic, ending the show at 12.30am.

Earlier on in the show, other artistes showed up to support the Good Lyfe boys. These included Don MC, Cindy, Lillian, Maro, Jackie and Mun G amongst others. Uganda Police was on standby both in and outside the venue ensuring safety of the revellers. The Kibo Media event was well organised with good sound and stage lighting.
