Kampala to have international annual fashion show

New York Fashion Week is one of the most famous events in the world.
It is held in New York in February and September every year, it lasts one week. During the event, international fashion collections are shown to buyers and the general public. Luarie Do Jong also known as LDJ production, the producers of New York Fashion week also introduced the Kigali Fashion week in Rwanda in 2012.

The same company LDJ Productions launched a partnership with Great Lakes Arts Association to bring a similar event to Uganda; this was dubbed the Kampala Fashion Intro. It is going to be an annual event which will take place starting this Saturday 17th May at Serena Hotel.

Great Lakes Arts Association is a company which aims at improving and promoting Arts and fashion in the six countries found in the great lakes region , these include Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.

Speaking at the Press Conference yesterday at Serena Hotel, Mr Joel Kanyamunyu, and the Director of Great Lakes Arts Association said that the aim of Fashion intro is to inform the public about Arts inform of Fashion in the East African region. According to Mr Kanyamunyu, the event will also offer an added opportunity to other local fashion designers to showcase their creations, this is because there will be an African Market which will be set up in Serena as the event goes on.

During the event, there will be designers from Burundi, Tanzania, Nigeria and some surprise international designers. Gloria Wavamunno and Xenson will be the designers to represent Uganda in the Kampala Fashion Intro.
